Room Dimensions:
Control Room ~ 8' x 11'
Recording Area/Rehearsal Space ~ 25' x 18'
The recording area was professionally
designed and engineered to be acoustically correct.
There are no parallel walls, thereby eliminating
standing waves, resonant frequency and feedback problems.
The walls are double dry walled and extra acoustic insulation
has been installed to attenuate high sound levels outside
of the room. The ceiling consists of a floating system of
acoustic tiles, not structurally bound to the house framing
– this minimizes sound conduction to the upper floors.
The floor of the recording area is approximately
75% carpeting, and 25% concrete floor. The concrete area is
useful for recording drum kits and contributes to a bright,
live sound – if so desired.
All of the electrical outlets are wired
on alternating circuits, directly to the main panel. This
greatly reduces ground loop problems and virtually eliminates
the occurrence of AC “hum” problems while recording
or rehearsing.
The window between the recording and control
room has been installed at a 5 degree angle to deflect sound
and prevent bleed-through into the control room, or vice-versa.
The rooms have been wired with talk-back
capability so musicians can easily converse with the control
room engineer.
